Why do I get body odor?

Contrary to popular belief, it is not sweat itself that causes body odor. Sweat is a clear, odorless liquid comprised predominantly of water, proteins, and oils. Body odor is the byproduct of bacteria on the skin interacting with proteins and oils in sweat and excreting odor. There are various ways we can naturally reduce visible perspiration, but the best way is by using a product designed to limit both sweat and odor.

What’s the difference between antiperspirant and deodorant? Which should I use?

Helmm offers three formulas: an Antiperspirant & Deodorant; a Sport Deodorant, and a Natural Deodorant. All three were developed without nasty ingredients while still providing the highest efficacy and sweat protection. All three are Paraben-Free, Phthalate-Free, Triclosan-Free, Talc-Free, and Sulfate-Free.

Helmm's Antiperspirant & Deodorant is a white, stick product that utilizes an active ingredient to reduce sweating in the underarm area. The reduction of perspiration makes Antiperspirant & Deodorant ideal for heavy sweaters and those concerned about underarm wetness. The Antiperspirant & Deodorant also contains premium fragrances that offer effective deodorizing capabilities along with perspiration reduction.

The Sport Deodorant works by masking the smell of body odor. Deodorants aren’t designed to stop perspiration, but rather focus on neutralizing odor. The Sport Deodorant is a clear, gel-like formula that offers powerful protection against body odor. Sport Deodorant is Aluminum-Free.

Helmm’s Natural Deodorant offers odor protection without the use of synthetic ingredients. Similar to the Sport Deodorant, Natural Deodorant is also Aluminum-Free.

Our Natural Deodorant and Sport Deodorant formulas are aluminum-free. In order to offer effective sweat reduction for those who need it, our Antiperspirant & Deodorant formula contains Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex GLY (18%), the most effective and modern aluminum compound used for anti-perspiration purposes.

What is the difference between the Natural Deodorant and Sport Deodorant formulas?

Our Sport Deodorant formula is naturally-derived, aluminum-free, and dermatologist approved like the Natural Deodorant, but the Sport Deodorant has different ingredients than the Natural Deodorant. Its ingredients are naturally derived and it provides powerful odor protection during active chapters in your day.

Both the Sport Deodorant and Natural Deodorant are solid, stick products.

Both formulas are Aluminum-Free, Paraben-Free, Phthalate-Free, Triclosan-Free, Talc-Free, Baking Soda-Free and Sulfate-Free.

Does Helmm cause irritation?

Helmm’s formulas are non-irritating. However, many people are allergic to various ingredients in cosmetic products. We recommend that if you have allergic reactions to study the ingredient lists carefully and thoroughly. Additionally, upon receiving Helmm, we recommend that you test the product on a small part of your skin to ensure that there is no reaction. I have developed a rash or irritation after using my Helmm. What do I do now?

It is possible you are allergic to a specific ingredient in your formula, and we are happy to help find an alternative product that works for you and your skin.

Another thing to look out for is other products in your hygiene routine. Skin irritation can come from laundry detergents, or laundry detergents interacting with other cosmetic products. Starch can also be the cause of irritation. If you’ve made any changes to your routine or household products, we encourage you to consider this as well.

What if I can’t choose between scents?

Helmm offers four great variants in all three of our formulas. If you can’t choose just one, we encourage you to try them all. Can I wear cologne or perfume with my Helmm?

Helmm's premium fragrances are crafted to smell great while still offering peak functionality. Helmm has developed its scents with an award-winning French perfumer, offering the first high-quality, fine fragrance products in the anti-perspirant and deodorant market. They've also been built to be detectable on the skin, but not overpower. If you prefer to emit an extremely strong scent, you can also wear your cologne or perfume with Helmm. Helmm's fragrances come from individual scent families, designed intentionally so they can be layered with other fragrances.

Is my plastic store-bought deodorant container recyclable?

Unfortunately not. These “pharmacy brand” containers are comprised of plastic compounds that are rejected by recycling facilities across the nation.

Is Helmm recyclable?

Yes, Helmm Refill Cartridges are recyclable. Comprised of HDPE and Polypropylene – two highly recyclable plastic materials – Helmm Refill Cartridges are recyclable after use. However, due to their small size, some recycling facilities may not capture every Helmm Refill Cartridge in their recycling process. In order to ensure that your Helmm Refill Cartridges will be captured in your municipality’s recycling process, we recommend batching cartridges together and recycling as one unit.

How long will my Helmm last?

Refills will run out depending on your usage patterns, lifestyle, and sweat/odor tendencies. Depending on how frequently and in what quantity you use deodorant, you may use a refill for as little as 3 weeks! Our Refills are filled the same amount as pharmacy store products, at 2.75 oz. Helmm Vessels are built to last for a minimum of three years and are guaranteed for life.

Although the majority of Helmm Members finish a refill cartridge in 7 weeks, Helmm Members are always able to adjust their subscription interval frequency to match their preferences and/or pause, delay, or skip any automatic subscription shipments as needed. How do I use my Helmm?

To use Helmm, simply remove the cap from the Vessel and gently insert your Refill into the container with the two “ear tabs” on the side of the cartridge aligning with the openings in the container. Once your Helmm cartridge is inserted, you can remove the plastic cap and begin applying your Helmm.

The Helmm Vessel is specially designed to be unlike typical drugstore varieties where you can swivel the product far up and back down again. Instead, the Helmm Vessel and refills are made to only be advanced up and not retracted. Because of this, we only recommend advancing the Refill up just enough as needed for each application. This design is intentional, as it helps prolong the life of the Refills — saving you money and the earth some plastic! You can advance your refill as needed by swiveling the base of the Vessel counter-clockwise.

You can remove your cartridge from the Helmm Vessel at any time by gently pinching the two “ear tabs” on the side of the refill and slowly removing the product from the container.

What is the difference between the Heritage Vessel and the Compass Vessel?

The Heritage Vessel is made out of metal and genuine, hand-stitched leather and looks great in your home, on your bathroom counter, etc. As this Vessel is designed for home, we recommend keeping the container upright to preserve its quality.

The Compass Vessel is a smaller and lighter alternative for those who prefer a more portable option. It works just the same as the Heritage Vessel but is better suited for travel. Additionally, the cap on the Compass Vessel is designed to latch into place to protect your deodorant when on-the-go.

Both Vessels offer significant upgrades over traditional deodorant sticks, such as scratch-resistant edges, balanced weight and application feel, and an intuitive Refill system that ensures you get the most out of each Refill. Both the Heritage Vessel and Compass Vessel are guaranteed for life.

How long will each refill container last?

Each refill container is 2.75 oz, the same as a pharmacy stick (it looks a lot smaller due to less plastic). Depending on how often you use deodorant or antiperspirant, refills typically last between 4 and 10 weeks, but the majority of Helmm users opt for our 7-week refill option. Our subscriptions are designed to be completely flexible and transparent, so you can customize, pause, change, or cancel at any time.

What do I do if I’m running low before my next shipment date?

Helmm will gladly accommodate changes in shipping schedule for you. Log into "My Account" at www.helmm.com/account, and you will be able to make changes to your shipping frequency. If you require an immediate shipment, you can order a refill cartridge a la carte with expedited shipping or click the “Order Refill Now” button on the account page. Lastly, you can also email us at subscriptions@helmm.com for assistance.

What do I do if I’m going on vacation or need to skip or delay a shipment?

Is my Heritage Vessel container able to withstand bathroom elements? I’m worried because it’s made out of metal and leather!

Helmm's container materials have been carefully selected and crafted to withstand everyday wear and tear. That includes getting tossed in gym bags, being dropped on the floor, and yes – bathroom elements such as steam, water and soap.

With that being said, we always recommend regular maintenance of your Vessel to keep it in its best condition. We encourage you to use a soft cloth, old sock, or other similar product to wipe down the edges and cap of your Vessel regularly.

How much is shipping?

Helmm offers free shipping on all new US orders. We also offer Priority and Express shipping options for a fee. Starting in 2024, in response to unprecedented global inflationary forces, we will apply a low-cost shipping fee to automatic subscription refill orders. In an effort to minimize the impact, we are heavily subsidizing this shipping fee for our customers and, if/when global shipping prices decline, we will remove this partial fee & pass the savings back on to you!

Can I expedite my order?

Yes. Priority and Express shipping are both options on all of our a la carte orders.

What if Helmm doesn't work for me? In the event I don't like it, what's your return policy?

If you are unhappy with your scent selection, please contact us at members@helmm.com and we will happily help you find a scent that works for you.

If you would like to return a Helmm order purchased at the standard sale price, we will accept returns within the first 30 days of delivery. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the product, we are unable to accept returns on regular refills purchased a la carte or renewed through a subscription.

Subscriptions

Which subscription plan should I sign up for?

6 Weeks: You sweat a lot, a lot of the time. Active guy who applies up to 3x a day. Morning, post-gym, and before a night out. Usually more than two swipes.

7 Weeks: You sweat when you work out. Active guy who usually applies in the morning and after the gym. Usually between two and four swipes.

8 Weeks: You really don’t sweat that much. Lucky you. You usually apply just once in the morning. Standard two swipes.

If you end up needing more or less time in between renewals, you can always change your interval using the subscription management feature at www.helmm.com/account. We currently offer completely customizable subscriptions, and the ability to pause, skip or cancel at any time.

Can I change my subscription plan?

Yes. You can change your subscription in "My Account" or email subscriptions@helmm.com.

What should I do if I need to delay or accelerate my next shipment?

You can change your subscriptions on your "My Account" portal at www.helmm.com/account or email subscriptions@helmm.com. If you need an emergency shipment, please flag your email as Urgent and we will do our best to accommodate.

How do I change my shipping address for my subscription renewals?

In order to update your shipping address, you must utilize the “My Account” portal at www.helmm.com/account. You can add a new address under the “Addresses” portion, but you will need to select your desired address for any active subscriptions associated with your account.

To update your specific subscription address, please follow these steps:

  1. Select the “CHANGE” button under your desired subscription on the “My Account” portal.
  2. Select the “EDIT” button next to the “Ship-To” category of your subscription management tool.
  3. Select your desired shipping address, complete with any apartment/unit numbers or relevant shipping information, and then click “Update Subscription”

Can I change my subscription preferences for my next shipment?

Yes! You can change your subscription preferences at any time using the “My Account” portal. Select the “CHANGE” button under your active subscription, and you can then edit your scent, formula, or interval. Please note that you must update your preferences before your renewal payment is processed in order for these changes to take effect.

Alternatively, you can also submit written requests to change your subscription to subscriptions@helmm.com. These requests must be submitted at least 3 business days or 72 business hours in advance of your renewal payment processing to guarantee the changes take effect for your upcoming shipment.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time after the first 30 days of using your Helmm products. If you purchased your Helmm products with a corresponding subscription, you will have received a subscription discount on your purchase. By cancelling your subscription right away, you would be switching your order over to the “a la carte” option and will be subject to a cancellation fee equal to the value of the subscription discount you received. You are able to cancel your subscription with no penalty or cancellation fees after the 30-day window following your delivery date passes.

In order to cancel your subscription, utilize the “My Account” portal at www.helmm.com/account and select the “CHANGE” button on your desired subscription. From there, you can select “Cancel”. If you have multiple subscriptions, you must submit an individual cancellation request for each subscription.

Helmm cancellations must be submitted at least 2 days or 48 hours in advance of any upcoming renewals in order to guarantee your next renewal will not occur. Once your cancellation request is submitted, you will receive a confirmation email from the Helmm team, typically within 24-48 hours.

Can I have multiple subscriptions at the same time?

Yes! The “My Account” portal allows you to manage multiple subscriptions at the same time. You can select different intervals, scents, formulas, and shipping addresses for each separate subscription.

How do I view my subscription renewal history?

In the “My Account” portal, your “Order History” will display orders you placed through your Helmm account. If you would like more detailed subscription renewal history, please contact us at subscriptions@helmm.com and we will be happy to assist.

My subscription renewal payment didn’t go through. How can I fix this?

If your payment did not go through for your scheduled subscription renewal, the Helmm team will automatically retry the payment every couple of days. If this occurs, visit the “My Account” portal at www.helmm.com/account and update or add new payment information under the “Payment Method(s)” section of the page.

How do I know when my next subscription renewal is?

You can see how far away an upcoming renewal is in the “My Account” portal at www.helmm.com/account . Additionally, you will receive a reminder email exactly 7 days before each renewal, to give you ample time to make changes as needed. If you do not receive these emails, we encourage you to alter your email inbox settings to accept messages from the Helmm team as well as check your spam or junk mail.

My subscription just renewed and I would like to change something. Is this possible?

Once the subscription is renewed, we are unable to guarantee that any changes can be made. Although we will try our best to accommodate any requests submitted to subscriptions@helmm.com or members@helmm.com, we cannot promise that the shipment is able to be altered, cancelled, or otherwise adjusted after the payment processes.

How do my subscription renewals work?

Your subscription renewal date is when the payment will process. On this date, your refill renewal order is placed once the transaction has been successfully completed. From there, your refill will be processed and shipped by the Helmm team, typically 1-2 business days after your payment is completed. Helmm renewals typically arrive within one week.

What about the manufacturing/development/testing process speaks to the quality of the product?

We have partnered with a renowned contract filling manufacturer in the development of our proprietary formulas. Our contract filler upholds the highest standards of quality and safety and is certified by the FDA, LEED Certified, Oregon Tilth certified, ISO compliant, uses cGMPs and other applicable regulatory entities.

Additionally, we have conducted rigorous testing on our product to ensure both the effectiveness and safety of our formulas. We have completed testing on our product above industry standards in order to substantiate each of our individual product claims.

How can I be sure Helmm products have the highest level of ingredients possible?

Every ingredient that we use in our deodorant and antiperspirant is quality checked and/or tested prior to being used. These tests run from texture, feel, scent, active testing percentages, etc. Ingredient quality is critically important to providing the highest quality product.

What testing has been done on my product?

Our products are tested for RIPT, Efficacy and Stability which are FDA tests to ensure out performs standards as well as is safe. In addition; we organoleptic test, weight checks and active ingredients in our antiperspirants are all tested.
